Evazote®

If your application requires a foam with increased elasticity, shock absorption, and skin contact suitability, Evazote® is ideal.

Evazote® is a closed-cell, cross-linked ethylene copolymer foam. Although manufactured similarly to Plastazote®, using Zotefoam’s unique nitrogen-blown technique, the use of ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) instead of polyethylene results in significantly different characteristics. Evazote® offers increased elasticity and tear resistance, and provides the material with a rubbery, flexible feel. As a result, it is particularly suited to protective padding, orthopaedic footwear, industrial gaskets, and outdoor gear such as sleeping mats.

Polyformes is an official Zotefoam supplier. We can supply your business with Evazote® foam material (in the exact shape/size you need) or pre-finished products. Our experts can also provide free advice on the best foam material for your application.

Evazote® material options

Evazote® ethylene-vinyl acetate foam is available in three densities, ranging from 30 to 50kg/m³.

Additionally, Evazote® is available as a conductive grade, combining the general properties with reduced volume resistivity. The conductive grade is suitable for a wide variety of applications, including the storage, protection, and transport of electronic components and devices, as well as EMC shielding.

FAQs

Although Evazote® feels and exhibits properties similar to rubber, it is technically a foam. Manufacturing the material from ethylene and vinyl acetate, rather than polyethylene, which most foams use, provides the unique characteristics.

Although both are part of the Azote range of foams and are manufactured using a nitrogen-blown process, Plastazote® and Evazote® differ in the materials used to manufacture them. Plastazote is made from polyethylene, providing increased rigidity. Evazote® uses ethylene-vinyl acetate, which provides a softer, more elastic material.

Because Evazote® uses nitrogen rather than chemicals during the manufacturing process, it is completely inert, odourless and hypoallergenic.

Evazote® is easy to process using standard foam conversion equipment. It is a thermoplastic material, meaning it becomes pliable when heated and retains its shape when cooled. It can be easily routed (CNC), heat moulded, water-jet cut, laminated and welded to create bespoke products (or material sizes) as required.

Additional information

Evazote® is a highly durable, closed-cell, cross-linked ethylene copolymer foam material primarily made from an ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer. The manufacturer, Zotefoams, uses a unique high-pressure nitrogen gas-expansion process that links polymers at the molecular level into a solid, multi-directional protective structure.

The manufacturing process means that Evazote® offers improved softness, toughness, and cushioning compared to many standard chemically blown foams, while maintaining highly consistent cells and lower weight. It is also chemically inert, low-odour, non-toxic, and resistant to water, oils, and chemicals.

Evazote® is typically supplied in large, uniform blocks or “buns” (often around 2000mm x 1000mm with varying thicknesses). However, Polyformes can split, skive, and butt-weld Evazote® foam sheets to create specific sizes if required.
