Closed cell foams, particularly cross linked Polyethylene (XPE), are well suited to producing foam props for retail applications. Unlike open-cell foams or fragile expanded polystyrene, polyethlene foams such as Plastazote or Microlen are impact-resistant, durable, waterproof maintains its shape, and provides excellent longevity.
Standard polyethylene foam is flammable and burns quickly once ignited. However, for commercial retail spaces and shopping centres, manufacturers produce FR-rated (Flame Retardant) polyethylene foam. It is important to ensure any in-store displays comply with relevant safety regulations.
Foams such as Plastazote are available in a wide range of colours. Whilst this means there is likely a very close match to specific brand colours, recreating specific Pantone or CMYK references is typically not possible.
