Foam Props

Foam props are a great option for in-store promotions, events and visual merchandising.

Foam props for retail are lightweight, custom-shaped display pieces, such as logos, oversized letters, sculptures, or even giant product replicas, that can capture attention, boost foot traffic, and enhance visual merchandising. They are particularly popular for window displays and interactive photo opportunities. Their low weight makes them easy to transport and handle, while their durability, flexibility, and ability to replicate complex shapes make them a popular choice.

At Polyformes, we not only produce foam props for retail, but also manufacture them for film, TV and theatre applications. Regardless of your intended use, we work closely with you to transform concepts into high-quality 3D shapes and designs. With more than 40 years of experience converting and fabricating foam, we can advise on materials, manufacturing methods and finishing techniques to ensure your project achieves the desired results.

FAQs

Foam props can range from small items suitable for use in-store (such as logo blocks) to giant displays designed to capture attention and create interactive photo opportunities. The light weight of the foam means that even very large foam props are easy to handle and minimise health and safety concerns (compared with materials such as wood, metals or rigid moulded plastics).

Closed cell foams, particularly cross linked Polyethylene (XPE), are well suited to producing foam props for retail applications. Unlike open-cell foams or fragile expanded polystyrene, polyethlene foams such as Plastazote or Microlen are impact-resistant, durable, waterproof maintains its shape, and provides excellent longevity.

Standard polyethylene foam is flammable and burns quickly once ignited. However, for commercial retail spaces and shopping centres, manufacturers produce FR-rated (Flame Retardant) polyethylene foam. It is important to ensure any in-store displays comply with relevant safety regulations.

Foams such as Plastazote are available in a wide range of colours. Whilst this means there is likely a very close match to specific brand colours, recreating specific Pantone or CMYK references is typically not possible. However, you can choose to have full colour printing applied to foams if this is a specific requirement.
