Supazote®, part of the AZOTE® family of high-performance, closed-cell, cross-linked polyolefin foams manufactured by Zotefoams, is the softest foam in their range. Whereas Plastazote uses a pure polyethylene (LDPE/HDPE), Supazote® is manufactured using an ethylene copolymer. This formulation makes Supazote® suitable for medical or orthotic items where the foam is directly against the skin, or for protecting delicate surfaces of parts or components (that could easily scratch or mark).

Unlike other foams in the AZOTE range, Supazote® is a highly specialized, niche material that is primarily available in a single core commercial grade, Supazote® EM26.
“EM” stands for Ethylene Methyl Acrylate (EMA), the specific soft copolymer base that gives Supazote® its signature “grippy”, plush, velvet-like tactile texture.
“26” represents its nominal density, which is 26kg/m3.

Supazote® is primarily used for applications requiring maximum softness, purity, and cushioning. It is widely used in the medical sector for patient positioning pads, orthopedic braces, and skin-contact linings because it won’t cause friction sores. It is also widely used in sports protection (such as helmet liners and body armour backing), luxury presentation packaging, museum artifact conservation, and high-performance industrial gaskets.
While both are high-purity, closed-cell foams made by Zotefoams, Plastazote® is made from pure polyethylene (LDPE/HDPE), making it stiffer and more structurally rigid. Supazote® uses an ethylene copolymer (specifically Ethylene Methyl Acrylate), which gives it a much softer, more flexible, and plush “soft-touch” feel. Choose Plastazote® for rigid structures and case inserts, and Supazote for comfortable skin-contact or fragile cushioning.
Foam converters can easily thermoform, compression-mould, and vacuum-form Supazote® foam. Because of its ethylene copolymer base, it responds exceptionally well to modest heat. Fabricators can warm the foam to shape it into intricate, three-dimensional curves that hold their shape perfectly once cooled, making it ideal for custom medical splints, footwear insoles, and ergonomic protective gear.
Whilst its closed-cell structure prevents liquids, sweat, and bacteria from penetrating the foam material, you can safely wash and disinfect Supazote foam if required. The non-porous, closed-cell material allows you to wash the surfaces with mild soap and warm water, commercial surface cleaners, or even medical-grade disinfectants. It also features excellent chemical resistance, meaning standard alcohol-based sanitizers or mild alkalis will not cause the material to degrade over time.
Incredibly lightweight and inherently buoyant, Supazote® is completely non-toxic, skin-safe, and odour-free. Its non-porous structure means end users can wash, wipe down and treat the surfaces with medical-grade disinfectants without degrading. It also resists oils, common solvents, acids, and alkalis.
Unlike stiffer polyethylene foams, Supazote® provides noticeably softer surfaces, greater flexibility, and elastic recovery.
This combination of comfort and chemical purity makes Supazote® suited to highly sensitive and demanding applications. It is particularly suited to healthcare applications that require direct skin contact, such as orthopedic padding, custom wheelchair seating, prosthetic liners, and non-abrasive cervical collars. Its non-abrasive texture also makes it ideal for high-end sports protection, including helmet comfort liners, flexible body armour backing, and ergonomic exercise mats.
