Explorer Cases are completely water (and dust) proof. They have an IP67 rating, , meaning they can withstand full water immersion up to a depth of 1 meter for at least 30 minutes. All primary structural joints, load-tested handles, and lid hinges are also reinforced with heavy-duty, stainless steel pins. This prevents rust, swelling, and hardware failure, even when repeatedly exposed to saltwater and harsh industrial chemicals.
Explorer cases come with a full lifetime guarantee. This warranty covers any structural damage or manufacturing defects encountered during normal deployment. If the shell or a component cracks or fails, the manufacturer (GT Line) will repair or replace it free of charge.
All Explorer Cases feature reinforced, molded padlock holes next to the primary latches. These slots accommodate standard security padlocks, heavy-duty TSA locks, or zip-ties for secure shipping. This feature protects contents from theft and makes Explorer cases suitable for shipping in aircraft cargo holds.
Explorer Cases are frequently used as a military case. They are fully compliant with several military standards, specifically STANAG 4280 (Edition 2) and Def Stan 81-41 (Part 3) Level J, making them eligible for official NATO stock numbers (NSN).
